On Sunday, May 15th, we will be having our annual Members Only Auction and Potluck. We will begin gathering at 12:00pm, and the potluck will begin shortly thereafter. The auction should begin around 1pm.
This event has previously been held at the Rochester Community Building, but we are excited to be using the Washington Park Botanical Garden building for this years auction. We will be in the same room that we use for our Plant Sale in August.
This event is reserved for current members of CIDS, and your dues must be paid in-full before the day of the auction in order to participate. This auction is an opportunity for CIDS members to obtain new daylily cultivars (usually) at lower-than-retail prices.
The majority of the plants that will be available for sale are coming from Brown’s Ferry Gardens, which is owned/operated by Charles and Heidi Douglas. CIDS members are encouraged to bring increases from the plants purchased through our clubs Plant Drawing program, and members may also donate other plants to be sold, with all proceeds going to CIDS. Our 2015 Daylily Sale will be held at the Washington Park Botanical Garden on Saturday August 1st, from 12pm to 3pm.
CIDS members will convene at Washington Park on Thursday night, July 30th, to dig and divide plants from our club bed. (Rain date is Friday, July 31st).
CIDS Members – especially those with vendor tables – are encouraged to arrive at the park between 9:30am and 10:30am on the day of the sale to setup the room.

Many members are interested in the list of plants that will be available for auction. Below is a link to the list of plants that were purchased from Blue Ridge Daylilies. Additional plants may be donated or submitted to the auction.
**PLEASE NOTE: Only members who have paid their dues for 2015 will be able to participate in this auction. If you are a new member, please submit your registration BEFORE the June 7th meeting to our Treasurer, Deb Miller. Registrations on the day of the auction will not be accepted. If you have questions about this, please contact the club president.
The potluck will very similar to years past. Fried chicken will be provided by the club, along with paper products. Members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share (should feed approximately 10-12 people).

We have been given the approval from AHS to host an official Exhibition and Show on June 27th, 2015. Our show in 2014 was a big hit, and we hope this year will be even better.
8:00a-11:00a Registration / Classification / Placement.
Exhibitors may arrive with their exhibits and groom near the show location. A small grooming area will be provided. It is recommended you come to the show location with your exhibits already groomed. Friendly faces will be on hand to help you with your exhibits.
11:00a No new entries accepted for placement. Only entries in the possession of the placement or classification committee will be accepted for judging. All other entries will be placed in the non-judged display area. The show chair will resolve discrepancies, and the decision will be final.
11:30a Final placement and registration completed. This time allows for classification to complete entries that had been received at or before 11:00. This time also allows the placement committee to make final adjustments.
11:30a-1:00p Exhibition Judging. Only judges, clerks and show chairs allowed inside judging area.
12:00p-4:00p Membership and Education Table open.
1:00p Show open to public.
1:00p-1:30p Tabulation and awards placement.
4:00p Show closed. Exhibits and awards must be claimed by 4:15pm. Dismantling begins at 4:00pm.

Plans are set for our bus trip this year, and we’re already signing people up to join us for a great adventure!
Join us on June 20th as we head South and West to see daylilies and other perennials on display.
We’ll depart from the JC Penny Parking lot in Springfield at 7:30am. From there, we’ll head to Cottage Gardens, on to Josephine’s for lunch (it’s a CIDS favorite!), and finally to the Missouri Botanical Garden for the afternoon. We plan to be back in Springfield at 6pm.
The cost for each participant is $30.

Our 1st meeting will be on Friday, Feb. 13th at 7pm, Rochester Community Center. Since there was so much interest, we are already planning a bus trip to St Louis-the Missouri Botanical Garden.
This meeting we want your input on how we do things, so we will be discussing various activities & ideas not just verbally but also on paper. We will all be taking a detailed survey of our likes, scheduling, suggestions, etc. We want to reflect your needs, as best we can with a group.

CIDS will hold our annual Plant Sale on Saturday, August 2nd, at the Washington Park Botanical Garden Exhibition Room. Doors will open at 12:00pm. We invite the general public to attend. The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity for the general public to learn more about daylilies as well has provide opportunities for all to expand their garden with new or additional varieties.
At the sale, CIDS will have tables filled with a variety of daylilies for sale, all at very reasonable prices. They will be sold bare-root, meaning that they will not be potted.
The sale will also include a number of vendors, who are members of the club that have specialty daylilies or related products to sell.
The following information was passed along to members of CIDS:
I am sending this to all of you who are requesting vendor tables at the sale next Saturday and/or helping at the CIDS table. So far, CIDS table helpers are Deb (chair), Jacinto’s, Jim, Paula, Rich. Children’s area are Sharon, Nancy, Dave. (everything for children’s will be provided, except I may need another trowel). Nikki will provide seedlings. We will be able to get into the exhibition hall at 9:30 am. Tables will be set up, and your name will be on yours. However, you will need to put your table away at the end of the sale. Please bring a sack lunch, drinks, and your tablecloth if you want one. Those who are helping with the sale will be able to buy between 11:30 and 12:00. Remember, you cannot have a vendor hold plants for you before 11:30. Any questions, please respond to this email.

It’s 100% official: CIDS will be hosting an AHS-acreditted Show/Exhibition this year! After a fews years away from shows, CIDS will host once again on Sunday, July 6th. The show will be held at Washington Park Botanical Garden in their Exhibition Room.
Entries will be only be accepted between 8:30 – 11:00am.
Judging will take place between 11:30am – 1:00pm.
The show is open to the public from 1:00 – 4:00pm. The general public is invited to come and view the show entries after judging. Scoring and awards will also be announced during this time.
Jim Cruise is still accepting volunteers to help work at the show. Please contact him if you would like to help.
If you are planning to help setup for the show, please arrive no later than 8:00am.
This Friday, June 13th, at 7:00pm, at the Rochester Community Room, two of our club members – Rich Ford and Nikki Schmith – will help the rest of us learn all about Daylily Shows and Exhibitions. They’ll help us learn how to pick the right scape and bloom, travel with it to the location, clean it up, and get it entered into the show. They’ll also explain how the show is judged and how points are scored, just in case you like those details, too. ***This will not be a club meeting, with club business, plant drawings, etc. ***
